Building Medieval Siege Devices - For a Medieval Unit!
During medieval times warring countries came up with some interesting ways to hurl large and pointy objects at each other. If you were on the outside you used a trebuchet, catapult, ballista and siege tower to get into the castles. These tools and weapons were leading edge technology at the time and used levers, counterweights and pulleys to help do the work.
This course looks at the siege tools of the day and the students build, out of wood, a working replica of a medieval siege engine. Students will measure, cut, drill, glue and test their model, including a math activity with shooting, averaging and graphing.
